Camp
Trinity
The Lutheran Camp on Petit Jean Mountain
Great North American Eclipse
2024

PATH OF TOTALITY
Petit Jean Mountain will be a prime location to view the Great North American Eclipse April 8, 2024. The path of totality will run through Arkansas from southwest to northeast, and Petit Jean Mountain will be right on the "blue line," the path through the center of totality where the total eclipse lasts the longest. The eclipse will last more than 2 hours, 30 minutes, with partial eclipse beginning around 12:30 p.m. and ending at 3. The period of totality will last more than 4 minutes, from 1:49 to 1:53 p.m.

HISTORIC EVENT
The April 2024 eclipse is historic for the state. Only two total eclipses have happened in Arkansas's recorded history, one in 1834, before Arkansas became a state, and the second in 1918.
Visitors from all over the world are expected to descend upon Arkansas to view the eclipse, with the highest concentration along the blue line. Officials are anticipating tens of thousands of guests on Petit Jean Mountain, and those in the hospitality industry began meeting in early 2022 to plan for the influx of visitors and coordinate services.
LODGING AT CAMP TRINITY
Camp Trinity will be hosting guests in the retreat lodge, five cabins and campground. All reservations for the event will be for arrival Friday, April 5, and departure Tuesday, April 9, (4 nights). A deposit is required to reserve lodging. The deposit is nonrefundable after Oct. 1, 2023. The total fees are due by Dec. 31, 2023; after that date the reservations will reopen for another party.
Although guests will not be required to arrive by Friday, they are strongly encouraged to do so to avoid the anticipated traffic volume on the mountain.

FOOD & SUPPLIES
Concessions will be open during meal times Saturday-Monday at camp. The camp will also have basic supplies on hand for purchase, as it may be difficult to drive to the store. The Trading Post will stock toothbrushes and toothpaste, bar soap, shampoo, medicine, insect repellent, sunscreen, lip balm, etc. Regular Trading Post items will also be available for purchase: T-shirts, hoodies, caps, water bottles, flashlights, bracelets, necklaces, bandanas. The Trading Post will also have eclipse glasses available.
